Lily Prentiss wishes she could ignore her inborn healing magic so she can live life on her own terms, and not follow the path her Magiste family laid out for her. But when she stumbles across Aidan Marchand in the excruciating throes of evolving into a Mage, her touch is all that stops his pain and she can no longer deny her powers. When the sexy Dom seduces her into willing submission, she finds she doesn’t want to resist.

Aidan has more to worry about than just his rapidly maturing powers. His business partner is blackmailing him into funding a venture that involves kidnapping young girls both magical and mortal, and selling them as sex slaves. Even as Lily’s touch eases Aidan's pain, he knows that staying with her will put her in danger from his enemies. But her gift of sexual submission helps him even more than her healing magic...so how can he let her go?

About the Author

A born-and-bred Jersey Girl with Brooklyn roots, I still live where it all started. I married my very own alpha male many eons ago, and am a full-time working mom to two school-age children. Needless to say, free time is always at a premium, and I spend the bulk of it lost in the worlds of my own making. I love to read and write hot, sexy and emotional stories about people both glamorous and not-so-glamorous. And some of them are even downright un-heroic, which is part of what makes them so sexy, in my opinion!

On those rare occasions when I am not writing, you can catch me playing in my other favorite alternate worlds of Highlander, Harry Potter, Charmed, and DragonBall Z! Yes, I know, an odd combo, but they all feature some of the sexiest villains ever.

Review

"Claimed by the Mage has everything going for it—Mages, Magic, Healing, Romance and some very sexy and inventive BDSM. Aiden Marchand and Lily Prentiss are both extremely likeable characters, so I was rooting hard for everything to work out for them.

The story begins with Aiden's business partner attempting to blackmail him into funding a shady venture that involves kidnapping young girls, both magical and mortal, and selling them as sex slaves. Though Aiden is determined to sever his relationship with his partner, he almost forgets him when his body unexpectedly begins the painful process of turning him into a Mage, placing him in life threatening danger.

Aiden's powers had remained latent for so many years, he is unprepared and vulnerable when the change starts. His pain is so great it could well have killed him had Lily Prentiss not felt his agony and come to his aid. Her touch alone enables Aiden to deal with the excruciating transformation, so he is fearful of letting her go. Lily, however, has no wish to further explore her magic and fears doing Aiden more harm than good, but her own conscience and empathy refuses to let her abandon Aiden.

Aiden's pain is just as real as his attraction to the small healer who remains at his side despite her very palpable fear of using her magic again. He desires Lily on so many levels--as a man, a Mage and a dominant. He is able to sense her fear and knows if he presses her too quickly, she may well abandon him, so using great care he skillfully seduces Lily into a very willing submission that leaves her breathless with desire. Though Aiden's mere presence is putting Lily's life in danger from his enemies, he also knows he is her best protection. But can he protect her if he is not constantly at her side?

Aiden's business partner is a truly twisted piece of work and with all the power behind the Marchand and the Prentiss families, I was surprised he got away with so much for as long as he did.

Gianna Simone does an excellent job with Aiden's seduction of Lily. He reads her well and understands, most of the time, when to push and when to give. He takes care not to overpower or frighten away his healer as he carefully reveals her submissive side to her. My favorite parts of the book are those moments when he uses everything at his disposal to make love to her, and magic can allow for some sinfully erotic maneuverings.

Though Lily's fear of giving in to her magic is real, sadly it is only a lack of communication that drives the rift between her and her family. All the same, I would highly recommend Claimed by the Mage to readers who enjoy D/s relationships with a lot of magic. And keep your eyes open for the little dragon clamps that Aiden uses on Lily."
